Liberia (yaani Nchi ya watu huru) ni nchi iliyoko Afrika ya Magharibi. Imepakana na nchi za Ivory Coast, Guinea, na Sierra Leone.

Liberia ni nchi iliyoundwa na makabila 16 ya asili nchini humo na wahamiaji Weusi toka Marekani na Karibi (5%), mbali na machotara wa aina mbalimbali.

Wamarekani Weusi hao walikuwa watumwa waliopata uhuru ambao kwa kushirikiana na chama cha American Colonization Society waliunda taifa hili na kutangaza uhuru wa nchi hiyo tarehe 26 Julai 1847.

Wamarekani Weusi hao waliichukulia nchi hiyo kama nchi ya ahadi kutokana na asili yao kuwa Afrika, ambako ndiko mababu zao walikotokea kabla ya kupelekwa utumwani Marekani.
