Uislamu ulianza kushika hatamu katika bara la Ulaya mnamo mwaka wa 711 kutokana na ushindi wa Umayyad wa Hispania. Waliendelea hadi huko Ufaransa lakini mwaka 732, walishindwa na Wafranki katika Mapigano ya Tours.
Kadiri karne zilivyoenda Waumayyad walikuwa wanakimbizwa kusini polepole na mnamo 1492 Wamoor wa Imarati ya Granada walisalimu amri kwa Watawala Wakuu wa Kikatoliki - Ferdinando V na Isabella. Raia wa Kiislamu walifukuzwa nchini Hispania na ulipofika mwaka 1614 hakuna aliyesalia.[2]
Uislamu uliingia Mashariki na Kusini-Mashariki mwa Ulaya katika sehemu ambazo sasa ni Urusi na Bulgaria katika karne ya 13. Dola la Ottoman lilienea huko na kuchukua nafasi za Ufalme wa Byzanti katika karne ya 14 na 15.
