Request: Vigezo location maps
[hariri chanzo]Hi, we have city and province articles for Jamii:Miji ya Chile, Jamii:Miji ya Brazil and Jamii:Miji ya Argentina, in case you have time to add these to the location maps. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 05:57, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- 10 more just imported. its real easy: just copy and paste from en, repalce name by jina and remove the category - you just have to hariri and save a second time (for some settings to get recognized). thats it. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:51, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, last year I couldn't figure it out, I'll try it again now. ... In regard to Bot work, may I ask, are you asking for AWB Bot approval? If you are, I will add your name to the check page. It does enable one to do very many very simple edits like mbegu ==> mbegu-jio without aproving each page individually. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:18, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

- Yes bot use would be great. will i just be the additional menu on the AWB or do i need to do anything else? Are Bot changes supposed to run on a different account (like CGNbot) and if: do i need an approval for that account too? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:40, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
apropos admin rights: could you add "Jamii:Vigezo vya masahihisho ya makala" to "Kigezo:Futa" (directly behind the noinclude) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:43, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
19,800?
[hariri chanzo]Hi, are you kidding me? It was a day before yesterday I left 18,00+ and today looked up found 19,800+ how? Things went pretty faster - didn't even think if it would be like that! Anyway, it's really impressed me and total amazing stuffs. Man, you and Mr. Accountable are doing very great so far. At least I've got some story to tell on my blog! Cheers
- I've blogged about this. See here--MwanaharakatiLonga 09:28, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Shall it get an anniversary logo for the 20.000th or 25.000th article? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:16, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- That would be pretty cool! But where can we get it?--MwanaharakatiLonga 13:22, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- It could be just the one just linked (←), with the sw subtitle paint-jobbed unterneath. they are both png files and there are plenty of them. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:27, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- That's right, but there is no even one related to the swwp. Maybe we would have to request for anniversary logo for swwp?--MwanaharakatiLonga 13:51, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- there is not one related to sw because that is up to the individual project. we can still wait for the 25.000 - i reckon wont be long... CGN2010 (majadiliano)
- I made logo with en:GIMP, Picha:Wikipedia 20000 articles.png , It may be usable as is, or it may need more detailed work. Please see. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:37, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
looks perfect to me. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:41, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC) + + + I notice that it is "20.000" European decimal, not "20,000" USA decimal. This is ok with me. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:43, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
is there such a difference? shall Tarafa za Angola be at Manispaa za Angola? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:47, 20 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know, I think I'm going to change 20.000 > 20,000. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 03:09, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Yes, do it. for me its the same. i would like to start a discussion though, on the way we name cities. i noticed we all often apply a standard as we know it from our native language: i.e. with brackets like (mji) or with komma and sudivion/country - even if there is no disambiguity. my main concern is for native sw-user to feel fully at home and know instinctively how to find and name articles. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 03:28, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- The way it is now, it reminds me of the US spacecraft that crashed on Mars because of the difference between miles and kilometers. --24.2.139.110 06:16, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- About the logo: Mr. Accountable, have you already change the decimal point? I guess even that one works fine to me either. Maybe it's about time to add it into the appropriate place so that everybody can see it! What do you think?--MwanaharakatiLonga 05:48, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Acutally, I am going to change the number to 20,000. 24.2.139.110 06:14, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- That's great!--MwanaharakatiLonga 06:40, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
We still have 90 articles, that takes at least till tonight. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 06:41, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
its honestly only the color: but i can read the upper one easier. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 07:09, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC) all good. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 07:11, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
No, I think I agree, it's too difficult to read. I can't figure out how to make a comma, and I can't figure out what font or what effect it is. If we put the 20.000 big-number logo on tomorrow, I will try to find a comma afterward, if people want a comma on the logo. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 07:12, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- And, it will be easy to improve the logo, but I have to do it tomorrow as I am tired. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 07:16, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
ok. we will surprise you tomorrow with 22,000 articles. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 07:18, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Hell, what? Don't tell me, man! Now I see why you preferred 25,000 anniversary! Because you knew it if you gonna make it just in few days, isn't it? Then, I guess have no choice, but look at the man doing his job! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 07:29, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Did you receive the mail as you wanted?--MwanaharakatiLonga 10:07, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
a minute after i send the email, i found this which is a quality translation site. i openend your email, but got plenty of pop ups about net security. - and the file didnt even start saving, so i broke it up. i think i am covered now. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 10:14, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Here is Picha:Wikipedia 20000 articles 4 .png, the color of "20,000" is easily adjustable. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 16:24, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- hmm? :-| that one on the main page? for how long anyway? and shouldnt any image go onto the main page sometime soon? 18:48, 21 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- You did it!--MwanaharakatiLonga 08:03, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Front page, AWB, Roma
[hariri chanzo]I have access to Front Page, but I am unable to edit it successfully. I'll let Kipala do so. ... I had moving rights before I became administrator. ... I sure don't mind requests for moving, deleting, rolling back, etc etc. .... Article is at mji wa Roma because Roma is maana page. One should probably ask Kipala about this one. ... The way I run two instances of AWB, the first iteration of 'Middletown' will be more or less unreadable, but the second iteratation is applied immediately, and it mainly consists of changing %% pagename %% 'Middletown, Connecticut' to 'Middletown' in various places in the article, such as Jina, Mahali pa, 1st sentence, Picha:locator map, category, interwiki, etc. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 23:24, 22 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Redirects
[hariri chanzo]Are the pages you are creating really redirects? VasilievVV (majadiliano) 00:54, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- haha. : they will be. we had a discussion about AWB three dayss ago, and realised none of us knew how to do it in one step. so i will finish the 100 pages and redo them to redirects in a second round (any minute). CGN2010 (majadiliano) 00:58, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Mradi
[hariri chanzo]Yeah, I will definitely add the tags to the discussion pages of all the articles. Very great! Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:44, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Great. the thing is also: you and me will find our way around, but i bet few other. so i will start with it. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:47, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, where is a good place on en or de for me to read about mradi? ... + I started sandbox articles 1='List of diplomatic missions of Tanzania' at Mtumiaji:Mr Accountable/Sandbox 3 and 2=an interesting list of Tanzanian goverment agencies at Mtumiaji:Mr Accountable/Sandbox 2#Wizara, which is based on a an article I found which I copied for en:Federal institutions of Tanzania. If you have any ideas, let me know, the two articles have been sitting there gathering dust for a long time. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 22:36, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- those two article (in spe) are great but my guess is that mradi wont be able to help here. As far as i know it, projects are sort of behind the scene "portals" = info-points for user to get started if they want to get involved. (as opposed to portals, which are meant as starting points for readers.) My concern with the projects is: to have all the info (you and i have), - to have it available to any user - again mostly in order to contribute and/or correct/discuss. my thought was on a inviting graphic presentation of the mbegu tags, just so that people might have more drive to get involved. for the two articles: 1) do you know Orodha ya balozi nchini Kenya (it looks like balozi is a ... (how do you call nouns that dont change in the plural form...?) which is why your list should possibly be at Orodha ya balozi za Tanzania (which a google search confirms). The other "article" looks great, as it would surely connect a lot of articles: government, national parks, education, possibly road infrastructure and so on. maybe, if you put it out, it can be put onto the TZ mradi page for review. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 22:53, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- I apologize, i didnt anwer your question: see en:Wikipedia:WikiProject as a fortunately short introduction and overview to all sorts of projects. If you find a project that you think will be needed on sw let me know and we can put in on the list. To keep things easy over here, we should adopt a basic projectpage structure that can be copied into all projects - which also helps wayfinding. i just copied en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting (also see dk:Wikipedia:Stubprojekt) into sw:Wikipedia:Mradi wa Mbegu. what do you think. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 23:14, 23 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I really wish I was much better at Kiswahili, so I could start translating Wikipedia: pages. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 05:30, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

Town naming
[hariri chanzo]- You know, I have been thinking about your idea for creating redirects for miji ya Tanzania, ie, Arusha, Tanzania ==> Arusha. I wonder: Should the page be named "Arusha, Tanzania" or "Arusha, Arusha", with "Arusha" being a maana (or redirect)? Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 05:28, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
I favour just "Arusha" for the town and an "otheruses" above it, linking to an maana page. the majority of inexperienced users just links to "Arusha". And that is therefore obviously the most instinctive name and location. i think that should be done for all articles ending with (mji), cause no-one links there if not deliberately doing the work to create an "...(mji) | ...". This principle is already used with other countries that have subdivisions named after a chief town and is also applied in that way in en and other wikis, (therefore helping sw user, who might come from another wiki).
"..., Tanzania" and "..., Mkoa" would be good to have as redirects - but again: i think just a few would link that way at first go. i would actually move all those towns that are named that way, (with komma or (brackets) behind them) but have no disambigouitiy (i have seen town articles like that in Japan). and again: introducing such a style of naming on sw, is making town-finding more difficult. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:01, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
PS: with AWB work, it also helps to keep the %pagename% at a location, that is being used everywhere else.... so that also ties into this concept. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 16:50, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, thinking about it, I agree that "Arusha" is the pagename and "Arusha, Tanzania" etc are the redirects. The reason I had the question maybe is because I am from the US, and every town is Boston, Massachusetts or Tampa, Florida, ie town + state name.
- building on that consensus, can we apply some sort of rule for other places too? there are towns all over the place (Japan (as mentioned), Holland, Spain etc. where we dont apply a coherent naming. that is already confusing to me. (i wonder if those [[(Nairobi) Kenya,]] -style links are just a consequence of the lack of naming convention we have...) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:27, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- EN tends to use town+state. I don't now about forming rules for other places because functionality is important. Any Asian place, any Spanish or English or Portuguese speaking place, the place names are used in mikoa, wilaya, tarafa, visiwa, mito, milima, makampuni, churches, stesheni, and other places in other countries as well. That is why US, South American, Japanese etc place names are all in 'town name + state name' format. I definitely prefer 'town name + state name' format, but in the case of Tanzania and Kenya, 1=the naming seems to be working well 2=it is Swahililand, and if there is a problem, or an idea, about the town names, then the administrators will definitely know what to do about it. Because SW is in Swahililand, TZ and KE etc get very much attention from people, and I myself can worry a lot less about it. ... As far as other places are concerned, I use the English Wikipedia method of using town+state where possible, making it nice and easy to keep it straight. There is also the Asian tradition of always using "town", "province" etc as suffix (ie "Chiba-ken or Beijing-shi". I like this, it also makes it easy, both for user and editor. ... In deutsche, aren't there disambiguation issues with places in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, USA, etc? Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:59, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

i didnt mean not to have any "town, subdivion" pagenames at all, i just meant that: if there is an appendage for a place in en (or somewhere else), sw doesnt automatically need it. i believe if - at a place in question (and the appendage is not part of the full name of that place) - we just look at the "other places" and check if they are totally out of the world for sw user, then we just dump the appendage. if a place in DE is disam. (and it doesnt have a geo feature in its name) it gets a bracket (exchangable with the komma version). I dont know if kommas or brackets are more instincitve to sw user, i could see both versions in use. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:24, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- one town that should be looked at is Plymouth, South West > thats wrong in the face of any rule. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:30, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Another point i would like to make (at least for places outside of TZ and KE): if there is a disamb. for a palce in en or de, i dont think we necessarily need to follow suit as sw will never cover any village on the planet. For those places i believe, we should rather orientate us on other small (well maintained) wikis. I am ignoring disamb. villages in Germany for my part and have the 60%-and-up common-sense association of a place to just that place. (e.g. Lahr, Schleswig, Freiburg, etc. ) - however many german diamb. towns have already a geographical feature as part of their respective "full name" (which is universally applied: e.g. Frankfurt am Main), so that is nullifying the problem there. same as the "town, state" version of U.S. towns. the latter however have might have issues with other places (← Plymouth). CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:50, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- I have to find and use proper Kiswhaili "For the city in New Hampshire, please see Manchester, New Hampshire. For the city in Connecticut, please see Manchester, Connecticut. For other uses of "Manchester" please see Manchester (maana)." There are very very many such instances in the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa. .... @Plymouth, I will change Plymouth South West to Plymouth. ... @ Many many villages, in the Kiswahililand General Area, in TZ, KE, UG, RW, BR, Ethiopia, and more, I think that every tiny village will get an article. As far as other places are concerned, maybe there is a natural limit of wakazi=40,000 or sometimes 20,000. .I tried to make every article in Jamii:Nassau County, New York, because it is important suburb of New York City, but I found I was making articles for places that only had English, Volapuk and Esperanto interwikis, so I stopped editing there. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 20:13, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
have a look at talk page of template:about. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:15, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Imefanyika
well, for those articles on east african villages (to already be or to come) - (and if an disamb is required!) - we should decide on whether to use the "village/town, subidivision"-style or "village/town (mji)"-style. again, i am concerned for internet-less-accustomed user, finding it hard to understand the logic for one against the other, if we name them inconsistently. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:36, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- So, redirects are necessary; or, do you need to move the articles? If the answer is redirects, then I will start these TZ and KE redirects, but it will get done in a few days. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 20:55, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- i wouldnt say redirects are "necessary" but def. "very helpful". so yes please. my thought was however, if we have them (wherever possible) at a "just name" pagename, one could run a AWB job on them. Plus: if we decide to move them (the ones with (mji) in them) in a few days, we would have to redirect those redirect again. i believe kenya has less such pagenames, so those might be more ready for those redirects. and then, if you do run AWB on it, a couple of versions might work in handy: such a "town, Kenya", "town (Kenya)" (any more?) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:03, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC) PS: "Mji wa ..." could be another useful redirect, as some people do link that way. 22:59, 29 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
AWB Bot
[hariri chanzo]Hi, I have added you to the AWB Check Page @ "Bot users". Please check your AWB, and let me know if there are any problems. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 17:53, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
thanks. looks like it works fine. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:01, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- i still cannot do the either the redirect in one go nor replace the BK]] to ]] CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:06, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Using Regex and the property of sequentiality in the Advanced Find and Replace function, I believe both can be done. It's like P vs NP. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 18:40, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- i still cannot do the either the redirect in one go nor replace the BK]] to ]] CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:06, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- please check if you can find out, if not i can still ask again. i just dont want to bother them with really basic questions. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:47, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- RE: AWB on kenya towns: could you find out if you know what the guy was suggesting. the %%title%% in square brackets was helpful but i have no clue how to use \. in a find-repalce. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:08, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
i will now run a bot job on populating the cities in TZ cat. (as mentioned previously). CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:11, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- first run just finished with "jiji" : resulting in 9 additional articles in cat mji TZ. will now run again with search for "mji". CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:52, 24 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
The 'XY's look very good, I was going to suggest, that all necessary langicons such as {{en}}, ((pt)), ((de)) etc, if they are needed for 'XY' maana, could be moved to 'langicon|en' format, or even 'langicon|kiing' or 'kiing', 'kireno' format etc. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 01:57, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- i come back on this: i just found that there are a lot of duplicates, just collected in Jamii:Vigezo vya languageicon. en is using the two letter templates as redirects to "-icon", some wikis (including de:wp) is using the two-letters for non-latin texts in a respective language. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 14:47, 5 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
now that you say they look good, i also want to say that i have to go through the 140 pages just created, and put links onto them. (will be done in an hour or so). i wouldnt need the "two-letter-kigezos" for the kifupi... (do we?) - but we can discuss such a move in general. its funny, you just mentioned the lang.-icon, i was running across commons:File:ISO 639 Icon sw.svg - and found it was only used once on all and every wikimedia projects...?! (shall we use those?) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 02:05, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
one thing i just want to share: if any of us oneday finds out about AWB-bot-adding stuff onto pages (that is related to the %%title%%: all the kifupi have the same intro which could be uniformally complemented by some more variations of the abbreviation (e.g. X.Y., Xy, x/y, etc.) via the find-and-replace-function. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 02:14, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
Your edits
[hariri chanzo]Hi there! Did you try to see this? It's pretty amazing!--MwanaharakatiLonga 07:16, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- ye, i think i looked at it a few weeks ago, when the % of work on kigezo was at some 30%. now with the AWB the edits on articles just skyrocketed. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:06, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC) PS: see here
- hey... just a question: what is the page "...EditCounterOptIn.js" for? Also: i am working on a full set of 2-letter-abbreviations, but i can only add international codes and some physical or chemical units. if you got an article, that has a common language sw-abbreviation, please link it on the relevant kifupi. 16:02, 28 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry for what I did without to let you know. The "EditCounterOptIn.js" helping to show the graph on the site which I provided above. There are plenty of stuff can't be seen without to add those things into user-page. That's why I added it to you and to all users who I know and care about. Kuhusu "kifupi": will do that my friend don't worry.--MwanaharakatiLonga 06:28, 30 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- ok. i have just put myself on the list, not to be included on the editcounter. i made some 10.000 edits by AWB autosave, so that distorts my count. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:45, 30 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, didn't get this message. Is the "EditCounterOptIn.js" has just bothered you? If so, then I'll have to delete it right away! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 07:48, 31 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
No, that didnt bother me at all. right now i am just busy, and i didnt like to be listed with 20.0000 edits, when half of those are bot-edits. (i meant this list). by the way, at Mr. A. disscusin page he was asking for your ok, for me getting a CGNbot account. please see. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:13, 31 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
KE moves viz Lamu
[hariri chanzo]I like it, all KE miji named consistently. I will make a project of it. For instance, redirect Lamu has to be deleted, and then Lamu (mji) is moved to newly empty redlink Lamu. Once I get organized it will go well. ... Right now I am 1/2 way through project of adding AfricaProject|'country name'=yes banners to all EN Category talk pages in all African country categories. (For instance en:Category talk:Economy of Burkina Faso.) I have put up 7000 edits in 5 days, most of them new pages. I will start with KE towns soon. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:08, 29 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- haha, sounds like a great project to do in sw. i am actually done organizing KE town names. i also have a AWB job in the pipeline to create "..., Kenya" and "... (Kenya)" redirects. but all other countries are still to be done that way. i am looking forward for Lamu to get moved. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:55, 29 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- Imefanyika. Oh, good, KE towns are already done. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:00, 29 Agosti 2010 (UTC)
- great :-) / RE: TZ: i have mention the town discussion to kipala, but he hasnt commented yet. we can leave it a few days and pick up the topic when we have come to a good approach with it. either way, i ll leave that up to you. 21:12, 29 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

- Hi, everything's ok but User:CGNbot has not been created yet. Please go ahead and create your bot page and I will put CGNbot back in "Approved AWB Bots" on AWB check page. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 00:45, 1 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Imefanyika, CGNbot is instated at Check page. I didn't know if you were done for the night and I didn't want to leave that redlink open. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 01:24, 1 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
You know, it only took me an hour to make (almost) all the two-letter vigezo ya langicon; they certainly should be improved. The fr icon looks great, if that's a good template to use then let's go ahead with it. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 01:57, 6 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- I used noinclude, but kigezo:en still does not seem to be working properly. See Kansas. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 03:59, 6 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
Coord
[hariri chanzo]Coords Hi, I haven't touched a template since I fixed Kigezo:en. Is this problem already fixed? I just looked at Rennes and Des Moines and I don't see anything. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 09:17, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
I have seen it at some places, cant recall which. it looks somewhat like here. (or is that just my browser?) --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 09:22, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, you meant the display coordinates at the top right hand corner, not infobox coordinates. .... I found it, I added {{coord|41|20|27|N|93|37|15|W|display=title}} to Des Moines and it showed up on Explorer, Chrome and Firefox when I was not logged in. After logging in, the coords were OK w/ Wikipedia's Modern skin on all 3 browsers. Changing quickly to Monobook skin, it was also OK on Explorer, I didn't continue checking. Also, I am not on the Beta here on SW. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 11:28, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
BETA is the recent change in window-surface? i use firefox and explorer and it was similar: when not logged in it was ok, only when loggin in (and using BETA) it dropped and loked wrong. So this is a technical template-job to be done? --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 11:36, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
I just saw it was me who changed Kigezo:Coord in Mid July (dont know why?) just undidd those changes, and the result is ok when logged in but wrong when logged out. do you see the same? --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 11:39, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Right, I see ok=logged in + !ok=not logged in. Maybe Wikipedia BETA has nothing to do with it? .. Went to EN logged off, Des Moines was OK both logged in and logged off. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 11:59, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- DUH, what am I saying?, maybe BETA does have something to do with it, but I don't know, I don't have the Try Beta? option anymore at the top of my SW page. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 12:07, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- i think the reason i changed it back in july was because something was dispalyed wrongly (just like you saw it two versions ago). what i did was just transfer the up to date source-code from en. i just tried to see if there were any updates since july: none. so this might need a professional. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:11, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe this small bug was undetected since the July fix, or maybe it is something else altogether. As it's both very obvious and not too serious, maybe wait a few days?, see if someone higher-up working on it since yesterday, or is working on it now. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 12:15, 14 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Still there, 1 day later. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 11:12, 15 Septemba 2010 (UTC)

i thought it was a good explanation that it is someone higher up (meta etc.). All i can do is look into the sub-templates of tl:coord and see if it is us. if nothing is there, i think we cannot do anything else but let someone else solve it for us. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 11:16, 15 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Would you like this notice to be posted at the (Kiingereza) Africa notice board? "Hi, if anyone knows about templates (vigezo) and is willing to help out at Kiswahili Wikipedia, we are shorthanded now. See User:CGN2010. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 12:15, 15 Septemba 2010 (UTC)" Notice board = 'News and Announcements'. ... No one has used this notice board in a while, it used to be quite busy. ... I just watched Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, two days ago, I feel like I am a poor villager looking to hire a samurai to protect the town, LOL.
This is unchartered territory for me too. Our tl:coord currently has no subtemplates but if you look at en:tl:coord (down at the bootom), you ll see it has plenty of templates included (some related to the english only feet-metric-conversion), but some also starting with tl:coord/... I can imagine that being the problem with us. Other wikis (like fr have a similar concept for the whole lot, so we might be able to figure it our ourselves. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:30, 15 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
one solution would be to just import everything that en has (or fr to avoid importing all the feet/meter stuff) but i am afraid of too much debris, that is only needed for those huge wikis. another solution therefore may be to copy the concept of a smaller wiki like dk:Skabelon:Coord (which seemingly has it all covered in one template), but then i dont know if we miss some functions. in the end, they all have just minor differences, but those differences affect problems like we have now. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:49, 15 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
Re: Hallo
Kipala (majadiliano) 06:42, 16 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
I give you a translation of the article as it is. Mbega is the name of a very beautiful (good?) animal which can be found in thick forests in different parts of Tanzania. This animal is also found in the forest of Mazumbai at Bumbuli, TZ. This is a special animal because you cannot compare it to monkeys or apes or vervets (tumbili) as it has much and beautiful hair (feathers?) at the neck. Another characteristic of this animal is that it is not destroying human crops like monkeys do, so from these characteristics it is a likeable (beliebt) animal. I do not know yet, why this mganga from Bumbuli decided to call himself Mbega but as his child is still alive I will go and ask him to find out more.
This is not really what we need; Maybe we semiprotect the article to push him towards registration? As it is we cannot communicate with him Kipala (majadiliano) 06:42, 16 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- As it is I believe we can communicate with him. He left his email at his user page. Let's be as encouraging to him as Muddyb seems to have been. Wasalaam, --Baba Tabita (majadiliano) 09:48, 16 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Guys, I've plenty of talks regarding our new guy. Nonetheless, I have a good for all of us. The guy called me this morning and we gonna meet on this Saturday! When we meet, I will definitely explain absolutely everything about Wikipedia and how we play our roles here! I'm pretty sure that after the Saturday things won't be the same. A moment, please. Yours,--MwanaharakatiLonga 16:22, 16 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I wrote directly to him on his ukurasa wa majadiliano and also by email. He reacted already on the talk page. Great that you meet him Muddy! As for the content I feel something like this needs not a vyanzo-tag but something like NPOV (I did now {{upendeleo}}. Kipala (majadiliano) 18:05, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
Since the original author didnt intend to write about the person, i may should write an article with your offer to translate it. {{POV}} and {{Upendeleo}} are quite similar? the equivalents in en are en:Template:POV and en:Template:POV-check. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:14, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Kweli! Asante, nimeunganisha kwa kielekezo. Ok, and the article is not about a person but about an unspecified animal Kipala (majadiliano) 20:17, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
Does {{Baki}} have any corresponding interwiki in en? I found templates using the image at: en:Template:Verror4, en:Template:Tpv4 and en:Template:Image no source last warning. What is it about? It's currently not used. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:44, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Baki imefutwa. Kipala (majadiliano) 20:17, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- MuddyB, say regards to Shadrack, and let us know if he speaks english? --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:20, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
The Lion King now has an english iw ready for translation. --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 23:20, 17 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- Sure :-) Also, he speaks English very well! No doubt about that. By the way, I'd like to see the Portal:North Rhine-Westphalia which available on the Wikipedia ya Kiingereza, also available on the Swahili! Would you be so kind to create it here? It would be so lovely and I can help with few things (I give you my word)! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 05:16, 18 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
- This all yours: Herbert Grönemeyer! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 06:12, 18 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
cool! :-) the only thing missing now is an article eneo Ruhr or eneo la Ruhr. Even though two translations that are more important for me are Kigezo:User wikisw (to make some advertising...) and Kigezo:User browser:Microsoft Internet Explorer etc. (for faster coordination between user working on templates). --CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:17, 18 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
I worked thru the Mbega / Mbegha topic; the en-article is not very good. As for wachawi, I answered on my page. If you like to continue the discussio maybe we better move it to Jumuiya.Kipala (majadiliano) 19:46, 18 Septemba 2010 (UTC)
