Katakombu (kutoka neno la Kilatini catacombae) ni mahandaki yaliyotengenezwa chini ya ardhi kwa malengo ya kidini. Kwa namna ya pekee yanafikiriwa yale ya Dola la Roma.[1]

Makatakombu yote ya Roma yalipatikana nje ya ngome ya mji, kwa sababu haikuruhusiwa kuzika ndani yake,[2] yakiwapa Wakristo waliodhulumiwa na serikali mahali pa kufaa kwa kuheshimu wafiadini wao.[3]

Katika mahandaki hayo inapatikana michoro ya ukutani ambayo ni kati ya kazi za kwanza za sanaa ya Kikristo.
