Simujanja ni aina ya simu ya mkononi ambayo inafanya mambo mengi kuliko simu nyingine.[1] Zinafanya kazi kama kompyuta lakini hii ni chombo kinachobebeka na kidogo cha kutosha katika mkono wa mtumiaji.

Kwa sababu simujanja ni kama kompyuta ndogo, zinaweza kuendeshwa kwa kutumia mifumo ya uendeshaji kama vile Apple iOS na Android - itategemea na mahitaji ya chombo chenyewe. Lakini vilevile wengine wanatumia Windows Phone au BlackBerry OS.[2]

Simu ya kwanza kuuzwa ambayo inaweza kuitwa simujanja iliitwa "Angler": ilitengenezwa na Frank Canova mwaka 1992 wakati akifanya kazi IBM.[4][5][6]

Toleo lililoimarishwa zaidi liliuzwa mwaka 1994 na kampuni ya BellSouth kwa jina la Simon Personal Communicator. Pamoja na kupia na kupokea simu, simu hii iliweza pia kutuma nukushi na barua pepe. Simu hii ilikuwa na ramani, kalenda, kitabu cha namba za simu, saa, n.k.[7]

Neno "simujanja" halikutumika hadi mwaka mmoja baada ya kutolewa kwa simu hiyo.
