Sagittarius A*
Sagittarius A*, Supermassive Black hole, kwa ufupi Sgr A* ni eneo la spacetime ambapo mvuto (kani mvutano) una nguvu sana, kiasi kwamba hakuna kitu, kikiwa ni pamoja na mwanga au mawimbi mengine ya sumakuumeme, chenye nishati ya kutosha kuiepuka[1]. Kitu hicho ni chenye kung'aa sana, na chanzo cha redio za angani na chenye mchanganyiko mkubwa wa mahala pamoja. Jina Sagittarius A* linafuata kutokana na sababu za kihistoria. Mwaka 1954[10] John D. Kraus, Hsien-Ching Ko, na Sean Matt waliorodhesha vyanzo vya redio walivyovitambulika kwa darubini ya redio ya Chuo Kikuu cha Ohio State[11] katika 250 MHz (mawimbi ya redio). Vyanzo hivyo vilipangwa na kundi la nyota na barua waliyopewa ilikuwa holela, huku A ikiashiria chanzo cha redio angavu zaidi ndani ya kundi hilo. Asterisk ni kwa sababu ugunduzi wake ulichukuliwa kuwa "wa kusisimua"[12], sambamba na nomenclature kwa atomi za hali ya kusisimua ambazo zinaonyeshwa na asterisk (kwa mfano hali ya kusisimua ya Helium ingekuwa He*). Asterisk ilipewa (andikwa na_) na Robert L. Brown, mwaka 1982[13], ambaye alielewa kuwa uzalishaji mkubwa wa mawimbi redio kutoka katikati ya galaksi ulionekana ni kutokana na compact nonthermal radio object (kitu chenye mgandamizo mkubwa ya mawimbi redio).
