Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo (amezaliwa 20 Desemba 1949) alikuwa Jaji Mkuu wa Ghana kutoka 2017 hadi 20 Desemba 2019. Kabla ya hapo, tayari alikuwa Jaji katika Mahakama Kuu ya Ghana tangu 1995.

Alikuwa na elimu ya sekondari katika Shule ya Upili ya Wasichana ya Wesley, Cape Coast na alipata Shahada ya Sheria ya Chuo Kikuu cha Ghana.[1][2] Aliongeza masomo yake katika Shule ya Sheria ya Ghana ambapo alistahili kuwa wakili.[1] Sophia Akuffo alifundishwa kama wakili. chini ya Nana Akuffo-Addo.[3] Ana digrii ya Uzamili ya Sheria kutoka Chuo Kikuu cha Harvard huko USA.[2][4]

Sophia Akuffo amekuwa mshiriki wa Kamati ya Uongozi ya Taasisi ya Elimu ya Mahakama ya Jumuiya ya Madola,.[2][5] na Mwenyekiti wa Kikosi Kazi cha Usuluhishi wa Migogoro Mbadala kwa miaka kadhaa. Mnamo Januari 2006, alichaguliwa kama mmoja wa majaji wa kwanza wa Mahakama ya Afrika juu ya Haki za Binadamu na Watu: mwanzoni alichaguliwa kwa miaka miwili[6] na baadaye akachaguliwa tena hadi 2014 na aliwahi kuwa Makamu wa Rais na Rais wa Mahakama[7][4]

Mnamo Mei 11, 2017, Sophia Akuffo aliteuliwa kama Jaji wa juu zaidi wa Mahakama Kuu ya Ghana na Nana Akuffo-Addo, kwa idhini ya Bunge. [2][4] Aliapishwa na Rais Akuffo-Addo mnamo 19 Juni 2017 kama Jaji Mkuu wa kumi na tatu wa Jamhuri ya Ghana.[8] Hukumu ya mwisho aliyohusika ilikuwa tarehe 18 Desemba 2019 wakati Mahakama Kuu ilipotoa uamuzi wa pamoja kwamba mahakama zinaweza kukaa mwishoni mwa wiki na siku za likizo za benki kushughulikia kesi za haraka za kisheria. [9] Alizungumza pia juu ya shukrani zake kwa Marais wengine wa zamani wa Ghana. Hawa ni pamoja na marehemu John Atta Mills ambaye alikuwa mhadhiri wake juu ya Ushuru katika Shule ya Sheria ya Ghana na pia alimteua kwa Mahakama ya Afrika ya Haki za Binadamu na Watu nchini Ethiopia. Alimtaja marehemu Jerry Rawlings ambaye alimteua kwa Mahakama Kuu mnamo 1995 na John Kufuor ambaye alimteua kwa Mahakama ya Haki za Binadamu na Watu wa Afrika mnamo 2006. [3] Alikuwa rais wa Mahakama hii akiungwa mkono na John Mahama na aliteuliwa na Nana Akufo-Addo kama Jaji Mkuu[2][10]

Baada ya kutumikia kama Jaji Mkuu, Akuffo alistaafu mnamo 2019.[11][12][13]

Mnamo tarehe 28 Machi 2020, Nana Akufo-Addo alimteua Akuffo kuongoza Mfuko mpya wa Kitaifa wa Dhamana wa COVID-19 uliozinduliwa wakati wa janga la COVID-19.[14][15][16]

Ana binti ambaye huenda kwa jina Violet Padi na watoto wawili wakuu Samuel Osei na Cara Nyami. Ana familia kubwa kwa sababu ya wake wengi wa mitala, pamoja na dada sita wanaoishi lakini anaonekana kuwa karibu na wale watatu waliotajwa hapo juu.
