Lizzie Kiama
Lizzie Kiama ni mwanaharakati wa haki za walemavu kutoka Kenya. Ndiye mwanzilishi na msimamizi mkuu wa This Ability Trust, shirika la kutetea haki za walemavu nchini Kenya.[1][2]
Maisha ya awali na elimu
[hariri | hariri chanzo]Kiama anatoka Mombasa na alikuwa mzaliwa wa kwanza kati ya watoto wanne. [3] Ana shahada ya kwanza katika Utawala wa Biashara kutoka Chuo Kikuu cha Kimataifa cha Marekani. [4]
Katika umri wa miaka 18, Kiama alijeruhiwa katika ajali ya gari, ambayo ilisababisha ulemavu wa kimwili.[5][6][7] Matatizo alipokuwa akijifungua miaka michache baadaye yalisababisha ulemavu wake kuwa wa kudumu.[8]

[hariri | hariri chanzo]Kiama alianzisha This Ability Trust, mwaka 2012, ili kusaidia makampuni yanayojumuisha watu wenye ulemavu na kuwawezesha wanawake na wasichana wenye ulemavu, na kukuza haki zilizoainishwa katika Mkataba wa Haki za Watu Wenye Ulemavu. [9][10] Kiama ilianzisha This Ability Trust, mwaka wa 2012, ili kusaidia makampuni yenye mwaka wa 2019, This Ability iliandaa hafla ya kando kuhusu haki za afya ya uzazi ya wanawake na wasichana wenye ulemavu barani Afrika chini ya ufadhili wa ICPD+25 Nairobi Summit na kuchangia SRHM. makala "Vitendo, si maneno: maendeleo tangu ICPD kuhusu ulemavu na SRHR".[11]
Mwaka 2019, This Ability iliandaa tukio la kando kuhusu haki za afya ya uzazi wa kijinsia za wanawake na wasichana wenye ulemavu barani Afrika chini ya mwamvuli wa Mkutano wa ICPD+25 Nairobi na kuchangia makala ya SRHM “Vitendo, si maneno: maendeleo tangu ICPD kuhusu ulemavu na SRHR”[12][13]
Kama mwanajopo wakati wa mtandao wa 2020 unaohusiana na afya ya ngono na uzazi na haki wakati wa janga la COVID-19, Kiama ilijadili athari za janga hili katika upatikanaji wa huduma muhimu kwa jamii ya walemavu. Mnamo 2021, alikuwa mchangiaji wa ripoti ya UNFPA, "Mwili wangu ni wangu mwenyewe: Kudai haki ya uhuru na kujitawala." Mnamo Aprili 2021, kwa usaidizi kutoka kwa UNFPA, Uwezo huu ulianzisha siri. huduma ya bure kwa wanawake wenye ulemavu wanaotafuta huduma za afya ya ngono na uzazi, inayojulikana kama Mama Siri.[14][15]
