Tassili n'Ajjer ni safu ya milima katika Jangwa la Sahara nchini Aljeria. Kutokana na mimea iliyoweza kudumu hapa imetambuliwa kama hifadhi ya bioanwai. Kuna pia michoro mingi ya miambani kutoka enzi ya historia ya awali. Eneo lote limekuwa hifadhi ya kitaifa na kupokewa na UNESCO katika orodha ya urithi wa dunia.

Jiografia

Tassili n'Ajjer inaenea kwa kilomita za mraba 72,000 kwenye mpaka wa Aljeria na Libya na Niger. Inapakana na milima ya Ahaggar. Ndani yake kuna mlima wa Adrar Afao unaofikia mita 2,158 juu ya UB. Mji ulio karibu ni Djanet.

Kimo cha nyanda za juu kinapunguza joto kiasi kulingana na tambarare za jangwa katika mazingira yake. Miamba inaweza kutunza maji ndani yake na hivyo kuwezesha uoto zaidi kuliko jangwani. Kwa hiyo mabonde ya juu huwa na uoto wa miti iliyopotea tayari penginepo kama Cupressus dupreziana na Myrtus nivellei. Michoro ya miambani inaonyesha kwamba zamani milima ilijaa wanyamapori wa aina nyingi lakini mamba walipotea tangu miaka 100. Kondoo mwitu bado wanapatikana.

Milima hii inajulikana sana kwa sanaa ya miambani, ambayo ni hasa oicha elfu kadhaa zilizochongwa kwenye uso wa mwamba na kuonyesha watu, ngoma zao na wanyama kama vile ng'ombe, tembo, twiga na kiboko. Picha hizi zimekadiriwa kuwa na umri wa miaka elfu kadhaa, za kale zina miaka 12,000[1].
